Project Briefing Meeting
NEW Initiative for the past few years has been actively engaged in the execution of various community development projects related with women empowerment and education improvement in the communities of Konjyosome Rural Municipality, Lalitpur. Continuing the extension of the project execution, NEW Initiative organized a project briefing and discussion meeting on 10th March 2024, at Chapagau, Lalitpur.
Various stakeholders related with its projects, like, educational institutions, women cooperative members, governmnet representatives, etc. were invited to attend the meeting. During the meeting, sharing of information related with the projects – Rural Educational Aid for Developing Children (READ Child-III) and Promoting Menstrual Hygiene Education and Re-usable Sanitary Napkin for Girls in Schools (MHE) were done with all the stakeholders. Representatives from School, community and government officials from rural municipality had participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, sharing of the project activities related with the READ Child-III were done. Among 17 schools being operated in Konjyosome Rural Municipality, the following schools were selected and planned to execute the project activities.
- Shree Gothbhanjyang Secondary School
- Shree Banaspati Basic School
- Shree Bagbhairab Secondary School
- Shree Gyanodaya Lower Secondary School
- Shree Sarashwori Secondary School
- Shree Gupteshwor Secondary School
Similarly, project activities related with the Menstrual Hygiene Education (MHE) were planned to be implemented in 8 schools including the above schools. The 2 additional schools are as follows:
- Shree Baleshori Secondary School
- Shree Magargau Secondary School
During the meeting, detailed activities related with both the projects were shared and discussions on how to maximize the impact in the community through the project were made.
Mr. Krishna Man Lama, Chairperson – Konjyosome RM recommended that all the relevant stakeholder are to be included in the parent orientation/awareness and discussion meetings. He also highlighted the need of planning the activities dates and times shall be carried out through communication with all the relevant stakeholders.
Mr. Arjun Prasad Ghimire, principal – Shree Sarashwoti Secondary School requested to complete the ECD class setup before the start of new academic fiscal year.
Mr. Bishnu Prasad Acharya, Senior Education Officer of Konjyosome RM highlighted the need and importance of collaboration and cooperation between Rural Municipality, NEW Initiative and ECEC officials to ensure the effective implementation of project support activities in the ECD’s. Additionally, regarding reusable sanitary napkin production training, he highlighted the need for sustainability through continuing business via maintaining the quality according to government standards, and registration for its effectiveness.
With the enthusiasm all the stakeholders present in the meeting commitment to support for the successful execution of the project activities.
